Venues for your event
The World Food Center is the food meeting place in the Netherlands. There are numerous locations around the site for seminars, congresses, festivals and small gatherings. Take advantage of professional indoor events venues or opt for an ‘unplugged’ experience in the open air.
The Stingerbol – a unique bastion of art, culture, food, business and education.
One of the most striking buildings at the World Food Center site is the Stingerbol. This mysterious spherical building once served as a training centre for anti-aircraft missiles and is unique in its class.
The building’s unusual shape makes anything possible – Exhibitions, meetings, presentations, debates. Organise activities and performances at the interface of science, entertainment and education.
The Stingerbol wishes to make an inspiring contribution to and make the link between art, culture and food so that visitors and users can eat more healthily, think and act more sustainably and get close to art and culture. Ultimately, to the benefit of their wellbeing.
Akoesticum – a cultural experience for your food event
Akoesticum is the ultimate production and presentation location for music, dance and theatre organisations in the cultural heart of the central Netherlands. With a beautiful location in the historic Friso barracks, next to the Veluwe, there are fifteen rooms that can be divided flexibly, overnight accommodation and our own catering facilities serving local products. Akoesticum is the perfect location for (multi-day) training courses, meetings and events with a cultural touch.
From a plenary knowledge session in the larger halls (for 50 to 250 people) with break-out sessions in various studios (up to 20 people) to exclusive rental of premises offering space for more than 700 people.
The Maurits barracks – an atmospheric industrial conference venue for your events
The Maurits barracks were built between 1904 and 1906 in neo-Renaissance style. The stately entrance, high ceilings and large arched windows give this location a unique appearance. The industrial look is further emphasised by the interior, which is constructed primarily of reused materials. The barracks can accommodate up to 600 guests in style (250 to 300 for a plenary in the large hall). We have twelve, flexible break-out areas for smaller groups.
The location not only has an inspiring past, but a story for the future as well. What you eat and drink here comes from local farmers, bakers and food producers. Tasty, honest, sustainable and future-proof.
Smook & Smaak – where food and the Veluwe come together
The Smook & Smaak BBQ concept is located at the assault course, where businesses and individuals can book complete packages. Here, the joy of food is combined with outdoor living, a slower pace, experience and pure and honest enjoyment. Smook & Smaak is adventurous, connecting and relaxed.
Just imagine – after a guided nature walk with a group of friends, working on your meal, while enjoying a drink. A nice crackling fire is burning in the outdoor stoves and the atmosphere is relaxed. You enjoy one another’s company and to top it all off, you get to enjoy your own home-cooked meal together!
Outdoor opportunities – let nature connect you
The Veluwe literally flows in to the World Food Center! The beautiful green surroundings are a popular location for successful food events such as FoodUnplugged, Störrig and Eten op Rolletjes. The WFC has a number of outdoor venues for events:
The assault course
The assault course (stormbaan) is ideal for small-scale sustainable events (up to 750 people). It is a unique spot, with the old assault course elements still visible amongst the forest landscape.
De Appèlplaats
The old appèlplaats between the barracks is a nice location for small events within sight of the barracks.
The Frisopark
There is a nice location in front of the barracks in the Frisopark for events within sight of the barracks. This area is suitable for somewhat larger events.
